Today’s success is a piecework quilt. This page explains the role of the pieces on our home page “quilt”.
Women Like Me has promoted women’s success and style for over 20 years.
My two main seminar specialties have evolved around work and lifestyle change and entrepreneurship. While it may appear that the two areas are not related, I discovered that the skills that workers will need in a quilted world are very similar to entrepreneurial skills. The skills of a successful Quilter can be seen at Profile of a Successful Quilter.
How can we acquire the new skills we need and adapt them quickly as the next change hits our work or lifestyle?
We need information at the practical leading edge of change.
We need the information from innovative people whose ethics we can rely on.
We need the confidence to give the new skills a try and a place to do it.
And - we need a vision of where we are going. The quilt is an accurate image for the emerging workplace and economy. It is also warm, comfortable and familiar. This is important as the stress created by change limits our ability to see new opportunities.
Traditionally, quilts were designed at “Quilting Bees”. Skilled quilters brought the pieces they had acquired, and when the best pattern for the current project was agreed upon, the work began. The creative atmosphere of the group took everyone’s efforts to a new and higher level of expertise.
Many other matters of common interest were discussed while the quilt project was underway, leading these quilting groups to work on many causes that improved life in North America.
The Women Like Me Networking Directory is the main piece in the WLM quilt as networking is our Quilting Bee. Being listed in the Directory will promote your business for a year by taking it directly to the desks of women making buying decisions for their work and lifestyles. The book also gives you a fantastic quilting network of Women Like You.
