The First Edition
The first Directory was printed by a traditional publishing company. As a new author I attended meetings where my thoughts and ideas for my own book were dismissed without explanation. When launched the book was an immediate success. I enjoyed the calls from members and readers telling me about their networking success.

Second Edition
The publisher declared bankruptcy just as the second edition was ready for printing. I had to become a publisher within minutes. How difficult could it be with my vast publishing experience? I was saved from death by naiveté by my network. They found all the skills I needed including a new bank manager who loaned me the funds and checked out the printing contract for me.
Third Edition
By this edition the Directory was province-wide.

Fourth Edition
The profiles were much more in depth as they were a popular feature of the book.
Fifth Edition
This edition had 75 career categories. The tenth edition will feature over 200.
Sixth Edition
The lead article on Housework resulted in more telephone calls than any previous article.
Women had many comments about being overwhelmed by work and life stage demands on their time and energy.
Seventh Edition
This was the first National Directory. The media called it “a little black book for women”.
Eighth Edition
This edition featured profiles of women successful in environmental businesses.
It also featured the first international section.
Ninth Edition
The quilt was introduced as a metaphor for the new economy. Entrepreneurial skills are the skills of the future and this is where women excel. The quilt is the ongoing theme of the WLM web site.
